An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #15 (Brought to Justice) Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Red Rider, the 1934 Lew Landers (billed as "Louis Friedlander") cowboy western serial ("15 whirlwind chapters of western action and thrills!"; "A cyclone of western action and thrills!"; "With Buck Jones the screen's greatest outdoor star in dare-devil exploits and amazing horse-manship!"; "Look who's here!") starring Buck Jones, Grant Withers, Marion Shilling, Walter Miller, William Desmond, Edmund Cobb, Jim Thorpe (famous Olympic Decathalon sports champion who was stripped of his medals, played professional baseball AND football, and who made a few movies), Bud Osborne, Frank Rice, Dennis Moore, Margaret La Marr, and Silver. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there is a real oddity about this card. It appears that the man at right is holding a gun in his hand, and it has been censored, but the censoring was done prior to the printing of the card! Yet this is definitely a first release lobby card, so surely this was intentional. A knowledgeable collector tells us that this was likely due to a period of confusion over what could be shown after Joseph Breen had taken charge of Hays Code enforcement in 1934. Universal decided to "play it safe" and censor images of guns in lobby cards for at least some of their 1934 and 1935 releases. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. There are some scuff lines scattered in the inset image. Otherwise, the card is in pretty nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
