An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 55" x 76 3/4" [140 x 195 cm]) (Learn More)

Enhver (released in English-speaking countries as "Everyman"), the 1915 Vilhelm Gluckstad Danish silent good-vs-evil melodrama starring Rasmus Ottesen (in the title role as Enhver), Jonna Neiiendam, Gudrun Houlberg, Valdemar Moller, Peter S. Andersen, and Lilly Jansen. Note that in 1911, the German poet Hugo von Hofmansthal wrote a new version of the medieval morality play Everyman. At the time, it was radical example of symbolist abstraction, and its success inspired this film version. The film was set in the modern era, and depicted the moral choices confronting Enhver as a struggle between a good and an evil spirit. Enhver is tempted by evil and succumbs, rejecting God and leading a life of iniquity, but he is haunted by guilty visions until he finally dies, asking God for forgiveness at the last moment.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this Danish poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Danish movie!

Also note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot read it. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good. The poster has some faint scattered brown stains, with tears and small paper loss on parts of the folds and borders.
