Artist: Reynold Brown Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this first release Cinerama three-sheet, and it sold for $1,850! Both examples were discovered in the same place (in similar condition) and they are the only two examples of this poster we are aware of. There are two different styles of Cinerama one-sheets that have surfaced, but neither of those have Reynold Brown art at all, and one is all text. Note that famed artist Reynold Brown was commissioned to paint five spectacular landscape horizontal paintings, each with a different scene of the winning of the West. Some or all of the art was used on just a few posters, and this poster uses all five of the five images he created. Note that the poster measures 41" x 84", not 41" x 81". This was something that MGM was experimenting with at this time, and several titles were made that size. The experiment was likely abandoned due to complaints by movie theaters that put the posters into three-sheet frames, and these slightly oversized posters didn't fit! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: very good. There is a foreign stamp in the top right blank corner. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded, but it has little effect on the front, and otherwise, the poster is in nice condition.
