An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12 1/4" x 18 1/2"; 20 pages). Also included is a herald that has 1 page (Learn More) The Gladiator, the 1938 Edward Sedgwick wrestling football sports screwball comedy ("Joe throws the grunt and groan champ... to make you throw a laughing fit!"; "From the novel by Philip Wylie") starring Joe E. Brown, Man Mountain Dean (real-life pro wrestler as himself!; he had a most unusual career!; he enlisted in the Army in 1905 at the age of 14, because he was so huge, and then in 1914, he became a professional wrestler, and Damon Runyon gave him the idea to be a hillbilly wrestler, and named him "Man Mountain Dean"; he did some minor film roles, always playing a wrestler or strong man, and he re-enlisted in the Army during World War II, despite being in his 50s, and after the war, he enrolled in college and majored in journalism!), June Travis, Dickie Moore, Lucien Littlefield, and Robert Kent NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. There are four small punch holes near the spine of all pages, but otherwise, the pressbook is in pretty good condition! Learn More about condition grades
