He gave a wonderful performance in "Splendor in the Grass" as Warren Beatty's overbearing father. Some of his other movies include: Shaft, Batman (as Commissioner Gordon), and Hang 'Em High (as Judge Fenton). He was one of those people who looked much older than his age when he was young, but then he barely aged for 30 years. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 84.
