An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Alibi, the 1929 Roland West romantic crime thriller ("Roland West's thrilling underworld romance"; "A Dynamic Mystery Romance of Gangland vs. the Law"; "Based on the stage play, 'Nightstick' by John Wray and J.C. Nugent and Elaine Sterne Carrington"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a gangster who starts a romance with a daughter of a police sergeant, who thinks he is honest, and he uses that to his advantage by taking her to a play, and then killing a policeman when he sneaks away, and since he quickly returns, his girlfriend becomes an airtight alibi, but then he kills another man and his luck runs out, and he is cornered in his own home at the climax) starring Chester Morris (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Harry Stubbs, Mae Busch, Eleanor Griffith, Regis Toomey, and Irma Harrison. Note that this movie is largely forgotten today, but it is one of the movies that was nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, and collectors who try to get a lobby card from every Academy Award nominee always have trouble finding this title!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned a dozen lobby cards from this movie, but we have never auctioned THIS card! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good. The card had paper loss in the upper right blank border and someone taped a piece from another card to the back of that area. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition!
