eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result p004 MARI BLANCHARD 7x9 movie still '56 super sexy close portrait! Date Sold 1/10/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 7" x 9" UPI Wire Service Photo Still (Learn More) Mari Blanchard was an actress from the 1940s to the 1960s. Some of her movies include: Abbott & Costello Go To Mars, She Devil, McLintock!, Twice-Told Tales, On the Riviera, The Unknown Man, and Something to Live For. Note that Blanchard's looks and 36-25-36 figure became the inspiration for cartoonist Al Capp in creating his voluptuous character "Stupefyin' Jones" for the popular "L'il Abner" comic strip! She passed away in 1970 at the age of 47 from cancer. Important Added Info: Note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Also note that the still measures 7" x 9". Note that there is a stamp on the back of the still (from the wire service that distributed it). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
