An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

So You Want to Be Popular, the 1949 Richard L. Bare comedy short starring George O'Hanlon (as Joe McDoakes), Art Gilmore, and Clifton Young. Note that this poster is a "stock" poster for the "Joe (So You Want) McDoakes Comedies" series from Warner Bros.-Vitaphone short subjects. Theaters would buy this poster, and then could either hand add the name of the specific short they were showing in the square area at bottom right, or they could buy a printed snipe that they would glue into that area. The poster offered here has a title very neatly handwritten in that box (it almost looks like it could have been overprinted, but we believe it was not).
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, smudges, and a few tiny holes of paper loss in some of the foldlines. There were some creases and smudges around the edges of the poster. There is a tiny area of paper loss in the forehead of one of the headshots and a tiny area of paper loss in the cheek of a different headshot. There were creases, smudges, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not touch up the two tiny areas of paper loss in the two headshots (any restorer could touch those areas up without re-backing the poster).
