Note that this poster features artwork by the Clerice brothers. Artist: Clerice Freres Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this French poster, and that was 16 years ago. The poster has now been reconsigned to us, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The entire poster had darkened, and it had some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout. It had some minor wear on the folds and some pinholes and small tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
