Thrill to them together in a suspense-romance directed by the man who did 'Rebecca'"; "Screen play by Samson Raphaelson, Joan Harrison, Alma Reville [Hitchcock's wife]"; "Based on the novel 'Before the Fact' by Francis Iles"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nigel Bruce, Dame May Whitty, Lumsden Hare, Vernon Downing, and Auriol Lee. Note that there is controversy about the ending of this movie! Many people say that Hitchcock intended the movie to end with Grant killing Fontaine, and that the studio insisted that he change it (to preserve Grant's positive public image), but others say that this is an urban legend, and that the movie was always intended to end the way it did! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this title card is extremely rare. While we have auctioned several first release scene cards, we have only auctioned this title card once before, and that single example has now been reconsigned to us, so it is still only one we have ever auctioned! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good to fine. The back of the card has darkened around the edges, which has slightly darkened the extreme outer edges of the front of the card. There is a pinhole in each corner. There is a piece of tape on the back of the center of the top border, but it was not put there for any restoration purpose. Other than the above really minor defects, the card is in nice condition!
