An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) La Ciociara (released in the U.S. in 1962 as "Two Women"), the classic 1960 Vittorio De Sica French/Italian World War II (WWII) women-survivors-of-war-atrocities melodrama ("Suddenly... Love becomes lust... Innocence becomes shame... As two women are trapped by violent passion and unforgettable terror!"; "Shockingly... The screen tells the shame of women ravaged by war!!!"; based on the novel by Alberto Moravia) starring Sophia Loren (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "Winner best actress award Cannes Film Festival 1961 for her performance in 'Two Women'"), Jean-Paul Belmondo, Raf Vallone, Eleanora Brown, and Carlo Ninchi NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie opened in Italy in December 1960, and was a major success. It opened at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1961, and also played in the U.S. starting soon after in 1961. The distribution of this U.S. showing was handled by Embassy Pictures, who created a 2-color one-sheet, which referenced the Cannes Film Festival on the poster and had "RECOMMENDED ONLY FOR MATURE AUDIENCES" on it. It seems likely that this Embassy release was subtitled and that it only contained 93 minutes of the original 100-minute film. In 1962, MGM gave the movie a major release, and it is likely that this version was dubbed. MGM created a full-color poster for this 1962 release. We think it is very likely that the movie stayed in continuous release throughout 1961 and 1962, so we don't consider the 1962 release to be a "re-release". However, the MGM posters are from 1962 and the Embassy posters are from 1961, for those who feel this is an important distinction! Condition: good. There are creases and stains throughout the poster and there is some tattering along the foldlines and around the edges with some repaired with tape from the back. Learn More about condition grades
