An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Norma Shearer was the great MGM leading lady of the 1920s and 1930s. She was married to studio head Irving Thalberg in 1927, and that seemed to greatly help her career, and his untimely death in 1936 seemed to coincide with the decline of her career. But that is probably really unfair, because while her marriage to Thalberg greatly helped her get top parts, she did wonderfully in many major movies! Some of her movies include: Romeo & Juliet (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Barretts of Wimpole Street, Marie Antoinette (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorcee (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Escape, Free Soul (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Their Own Desire (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and The Women. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of six similar special local theater stills, each of which are printed on a deluxe paper, with a gold coated stock on the front, and on the back it had ads for a specific theater, and also a tire company. We imagine these were passed out at both the theater and at the tire company. Other than these six, we have never auctioned any of these before! Condition: good to very good.
