An Original 1943 Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) First of the Few (released in the U.S. in 1943 as "Spitfire"), the 1942 Leslie Howard English World War II (WWII) airplane aviation war action thriller ("The immortal story of the spitfire."; "The story of the plane that busted the blitz!"; "The drama with wings"; "The story of the plane that saved an empire! and The Dream, The Faith and The Love behind its creation!"; "A Leslie Howard Production"; about the development of the famous English fighter plane that was instrumental in fending off the Luftwaffe during "the blitz" and helping to defeat the Nazis in World War II) starring Leslie Howard (in his very last movie, due to his war-related death; he was in an airplane that was shot down by the Nazis), David Niven, Rosamund John, Roland Culver, Anne Firth, and "Pilots and other Personnel of the R.A.F. Fighter Command" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned three examples of this one-sheet, and only one example in the last 23 years, and that one sold for $1,849! Condition: good. There is light rippling scattered in portions of the poster due to exposure to moisture (however there is not much noticeable slight discoloration except at lower center where there are some older tape repairs behind some tears and in the blank borders.) There are some pinholes around the edges and the red NSS ink pad stamp on back of the lower right blank border has bled through to the front. It has some creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges as well as some blank border loss at upper left. Still, the artwork of the poster is "all there" and the poster still could be displayed and enjoyed, but after linenbacking with some proper restoration the poster will display well (but of course see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this rare poster and bear in mind the cost of restoration before placing a bid.)
