An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" [21 x 27 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Dracula, the classic 1931 Tod Browning Universal vampire monster horror thriller ("The Greatest of all Horror Thrillers"; "The Vampire Thriller!"; "The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known!"; "Do vampires really exist?"; "From the famous novel & play by Bram Stoker") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye (if there had been a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1931, Frye would have surely won it for his wild over-the-top portrayal as Renfield!), Edward Van Sloan (as Professor Abraham Van Helsing), Frances Dade, and Herbert Bunston NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" herald! We are also currently auctioning an example of the 2 3/4" x 7" herald in a separate auction. Also note that Universal created two different heralds for this classic movie. One measured 2 3/4" x 7" and had four pages, and had color printing. The other was a newspaper style herald that measured 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" and has four pages, with sepia printing (green and black on one side, and brown on the other). The newspaper style herald is more rare than the other one, although both are not often seen at auction or for sale. Of course, first release 1931 U.S. movie paper from this all time classic is extremely rare and expensive. Yet this herald, which has great images on both sides, is surprisingly much more affordable than ANY other first release poster or lobby card on the film! We are currently auctioning an example of each type of herald in two separate auctions. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 31 heralds we are currently auctioning (in 31 separate auctions). They were collected over many decades, and include many wonderful horror ones, plus other very top titles. If one tried to duplicate this collection, it would likely take many years to do so! Condition: good to very good. The herald was folded down the middle and it has partial diagonal creases in the front and back. It has a small tear at the spine in the middle of the cover and some small tears in the right of both covers, with a tiny bit of paper loss. It has a tear in the left of the bottom of both pages and some scuffs scattered in the images (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
