An Original Vintage Unfolded Special Movie Ad (measures 15" x 20 1/4") in a mat that measures 21" x 26 1/4" (Learn More) I Wanted Wings, the 1941 Mitchell Leisen World War II (WWII) airplane aviation military thriller ("The grandest aviation picture ever to thrill the heart of America! ... All the power, the splendor of Uncle Sam's great air armada... all the courage, the daring of the men who man the air defenses of America... brought to flaming, heart-stirring wonder on the screen in the roaring drama of four 'hot pilots' and the blonde bomber who raids their hearts."; "1,000 planes... 10,000 thrills... and one terrific blonde!"; "The thrilling saga of America's flying youth!"; "Flying Fortress crashes!"; "Flying fists!"; "Daring mid-air rescue!"; "First American air-raid!"; "Based on a story by Eleanore Griffin and Frank Wead"; "From the book, 'I Wanted Wings', by Beirne Lay Jr.") starring Ray Milland, William Holden, Wayne Morris, Brian Donlevy, Constance Moore, Veronica Lake ("Blonde bomber... she flew them into the ground!"; in her first real role; she had a few bit parts, and a few where she was billed under her real name of Constance Keane), and Harry Davenport NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this matted item appears to be a newspaper or magazine ad from when the movie first came out, but I can't say for certain. Why? Because it appears that the ad was mounted on a board and then the top mat was nicely glued over that, and there is a clear plastic over the ad, and it can't be disassembled without ruining the mat, and because it is so nice, that seems like a real shame to do. So I can only go on what I can see. I don't believe this was any sort of window card, it is the wrong size, and it appears to be on a thin paper, and it was folded across the middle. I think it might have been a centerfold to either a San Francisco newspaper, or some sort of magazine that was mostly distributed in that area (look at the tagline at the bottom of the ad, for why I think this). In any event, one could absolutely display this great matted image on their wall just as it is (or they could make it look even better by getting a black frame to put around it). If anyone knows more about this ad (especially where it came from), please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The poster appears to be in very nice condition and it displays well. However, please bid knowing that this poster has been mounted in a matte frame and that it has foamcore on the back and a thin piece of clear plastic over the front! Learn More about condition grades
