Tess of the D'Urbervilles, the 1913 J. Searle Dawley silent romantic melodrama ("America's most distinguished artiste in her foremost success"; "Thomas Hardy's sublime melodrama"; "A soulful portrayal of a woman's sorrows in motion pictures") starring Minnie Maddern Fiske (billed as "Mrs. Fiske"; in the title role as Tess Durbeyfield), Raymond Bond, David Torrence, John Steppling, and Mary Barker. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
