Artist: Bob McCall Important Added Info: Note that MGM and Stanley Kubrick wanted to do really innovative promotional material for this movie, and one of the things they did was create lenticular postcards for this movie! They also made a 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" special poster size version of the space wheel, and both the postcards and the 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" size are quite rare. However, they also made a 23 1/4" x 33" special poster size version of the space wheel, that is unbelievably rare! We have previously auctioned two of those 23 1/4" x 33" size posters, but those were 10 years ago and 26 years ago, and they sold for $3,737 and $3,220! BUT NOW WE HAVE BEEN CONSIGNED A SIMILAR, BUT DIFFERENT LENTICULAR POSTER! It is very similar to the 23 1/4" x 33" but it measures 23 1/4" x 29". It has the exact same image, but does not have the title and small credits at the bottom. Why was this different size made? We can't say for certain, but there are tiny holes evenly spaced in the borders of this poster, and we have seen that before on other similar posters that have had a special frame screwed on to the lenticular. No doubt that frame (if we are guessing correctly, and we believe we are) would have had information about the movie and play dates for a specific theater. But you do get this really cool poster with the entire lenticular image, just missing the title, and it is NOT "trimmed". It is likely the only surviving example of this 23 1/4" x 29" size, and it certainly can be displayed as is, or a new frame could be created (that will be the choice of the new owner). It has a really wonderful lenticular effect that is of course very hard to photograph! Believe me that when you see it in person you will be impressed, but of course, only the high bidder will see it in person! First made on rare occasions in the 1960s, lenticular posters are posters that have a "3-dimensional" look to them, and when you look at them from a slight angle, they look one way, and then when you look at them from a different angle, they look entirely different! It is said that not that many of each lenticular poster was made, likely due to the added cost of production. Condition: good to very good. There are some scuffs scattered on the surface of the lenticular, which is true of virtually every poster like this, because they scuff incredibly easily, but they are not very distracting at all. As described above in detail, there are tiny screw holes around the edges where we believe there was once a frame, and that frame (if there was one) is no longer present. Please consider the above before bidding ont his incredibly rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
