An Original Vintage Linenbacked French World War I War Bonds Poster (measures 31 1/4" x 45" [79 x 114 cm]) (Learn More) 3e Emprunt De La Defense Nationale: Souscrivez Pour Hatar la Paix par Victoire (literally translates to "3rd National Defense Loan: Subscribe to Hasten Peace Through Victory"), the 1917 French World War I (WWI) War Bond poster made to encourage citizens to purchase war bonds, and featuring Paul Albert Besnard art of a mother holding a child and an olive branch with the winged figure of Victory in the background Artist: Paul Albert Besnard Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had darkened somewhat and it had small paper loss in the top blank border and tiny bits in the bottom blank border. It had minor wear on the foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
