An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Navy Blues, the 1941 Lloyd Bacon Hawaii romantic military musical comedy ("Hold everything for that wonderful whirlwind of gobs, gals and glee!"; "From a story by Arthur T Horman") starring Ann Sheridan, Jack Oakie, Martha Raye, Jack Haley, Herbert Anderson, Jack Carson, Jackie Gleason (billed as "Jackie C. Gleason", in his first movie!), and "the Beautiful 'Navy Blues Sextet'" (they were the winners of a contest in which U.S. soldiers were asked to pick the six most beautiful women from a field of 150, many of whom were Warner Bros. contract actresses; the winners were Georgia Carroll, Alexis Smith, Loraine Gettman [Leslie Brooks], Kay Aldridge, Marguerite Chapman and Peggy Diggins; Smith was replaced by Claire James when she was assigned a role in Dive Bomber). Note that this was a romantic musical comedy that was filmed and set in Hawaii, about sailors betting on a Navy marksman to win a competition, but his enlistment is up before the competition, so they have to get him to re-enlist to win their bets. It was released in the middle of September of 1941, and just eleven weeks later, the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, and I wonder how that affected the audience's desire to see this movie!
