An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Tunnel (released in the U.S. as "The Transatlantic Tunnel"), the 1935 Maurice Elvey English science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy melodrama ("GB's Eight Star Special"; "New York to London"; "Based upon the novel 'The Tunnel' by B. Kellermann"; about building a tunnel under the sea from New York to London; in 1935, it seemed like a wild fantasy, but now another project that was once a fantasy has become a reality with the Chunnel that connects London to the continent) starring Richard Dix, Leslie Banks, Madge Evans, Helen Vinson, C. Aubrey Smith, George Arliss (as the British Prime Minister), and Walter Huston (as the President of the United States). Note that Walter Huston played the current President of the United States for the second time (the first time was two years before in Gabriel Over the White House, a wonderful movie!). Note that Arliss and Huston received special billing that reads "Special Portrayals by Mr. George Arliss and Mr. Walter Huston". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: NOTE: Most lobby cards from before 1940 (and some from after that date) did not have individual lobby card numbers like later lobby cards (those printed after the advent of NSS in 1940) did. So we have arbitrarily assigned numbers to unnumbered lobby cards, only when we sell more than one from a set, so that there is a convenient way to tell different scenes apart. (Note that we do not use #1, because this is commonly used to signify the title card). The exception to this is sets of cards that did not have title cards. Condition: good to very good. It appears there was once tape in each blank corner, and that someone removed it and, in doing so, caused slight surface paper loss in each corner. There are many smudges and stains around the edges of the card and some dot stains are in the left side of the image, in the background area. Otherwise, this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has there been any tape on the front or back of the card. Learn More about condition grades
