Date Sold 3/9/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Two-Sheet Movie Poster (2sh; measures 41" x 54" [104 x 137 cm]) (Learn More) Let There Be Light, the 1940s sexploitation pseudo-documentary ("In person... on the stage! Howard Russell Fox the fearless hygiene commentator frankly discussing secrets of modern sex"; "Greatest educational picture ever filmed!"; "The greatest educational attraction ever filmed"; "Facts of life you need to know"; "Mothers bring your daughters"; "Fathers bring your sons"; "Women only 2:00pm - 7:00pm"; "Men only 9:00p.m."; "The show so powerful thousands have fainted!"; "Bold - fearless - vital!"; "Nurse on duty at every performance"). Trying to research this movie on the Internet is incredibly difficult, for two reasons! First, John Huston made a movie in 1946 called "Let There Be Light", which was about the rehabilitation of World War II soldiers who had suffered injuries during the war. This movie is clearly not that, but searches for this movie bring up the John Huston movie. Second, the phrase "Let There Be Light" is from the Bible, so of course, searches for it bring up all sorts of Biblical references. However, we found newspaper ads for this movie showing that it was a "sex education" movie that was shown in 1947 and 1948 (at least), with this same commentator talking about it, and separate showings for men and women, as was common with sex education movies at this time. We also found reference to a movie made in Germany in 1917 and 1918 that had four parts, and covered the same ground as this movie, but of course, it was silent, although it is possible this movie used clips from that film, or that it was a sort of remake of it. So we were unable to determine when this movie was actually made, and who starred in it, although one ad we found said "an all star Hollywood cast", but of course, that might have been complete fiction. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we had NEVER seen even a single poster of any sort from this pseudo sex education film until we were just consigned two posters from it! There is a one-sheet, and also a "two-sheet" (a very rare size that was created either by putting two one-sheet-sized posters side by side, or by printing it on a single sheet that measured 41" x 54"). This auction is for the rare two-sheet from this film. Note that this poster is one of a remarkable collection of 24 sexploitation one-sheets (and one two-sheet from one of the 24 titles) which are mostly from the 1940s, and most of them are ones we have never auctioned before. These are among the most desirable sexploitation posters ever, because they are far more rare than those from later years! Condition: very good. The poster has staple holes around the edges and a few tears, with minor fold wear (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
