A Folded German Campaign Poster (measures 33" x 47" [84 x 119 cm]) (Learn More) Das Ist Adolf Hitler der Mensch und Fuhrer des Deutschen Volkes (literally translates to "This is Adolf Hitler, the Man and Leader of the German People"), the 1933 German poster created by the Reichspropagandaleitung (Reich Propaganda Directorate) of the Nazi Party to portray Hitler not as a politician, but as a liberator of the German people. The poster features photos from Hitler's private and political life, including one of Hitler leaving a church with the caption, "Adolf Hitler, the alleged 'heretic' leaving a church." This poster was likely produced around the time of the 1933 German federal elections, which took place after the Nazi seizure of power and just six days after the Reichstag fire. Important Added Info: Note that this is a very rare campaign poster from Germany from before World War II, which we have never auctioned before! It was created at the time of the 1933 elections, so it is a true campaign poster, and we have never auctioned any campaign poster for Adolf Hitler before (and may never again). There are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence (because of the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. Condition: very good. The poster has pretty minor fold wear. It has some light brown staining and small tears in parts of the borders. Someone put some tape on the back of the border tears, but otherwise did no restoration. This incredibly rare and historic poster can certainly be displayed as it is, or one might choose to have it restored, but that will be the choice of the new owner. Learn More about condition grades
