6w093 BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY Argentinean '30 Lili Damita in classic Thornton Wilder doomed romance!

An Original 1930 (from the first release of this movie in Argentina) Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More)

The Bridge of San Luis Rey, the 1929 Charles Brabin silent South America romantic tragedy melodrama (based on a novel by Thornton Wilder; the classic story of a bridge in Peru that collapses, killing five people, and then the movie tells those five people's stories in flashback, so one can decide if it was bad luck or fate that they all happened to be on that fateful bridge) starring Lili Damita, Ernest Torrence, Raquel Torres, Don Alvarado, Duncan Renaldo, and Henry B. Walthall. Note that the movie was originally filmed as a silent, and then had sound added, and the film is mostly lost, and is almost completely forgotten today, overshadowed by the 1944 version of this same novel, starring Lynn Bari, Akim Tamiroff and Francis Lederer

Artist: A. Wagener
Important Added Info: Note that first release movie posters from this first movie version of Thornton Wilder's novel are incredible rare! We have previously auctioned only a U.S. window card in much lesser condition and a Swedish poster, but otherwise, we have never seen ANY first release posters from this movie, until we were consigned this Argentinean poster with a beautiful stone litho image (and while it is not a "country of origin" poster, the novel WAS set in South America, so it has that going for it as well!).

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has slight staining in the right edge of the bottom of the blank border and very slight darkening in the left half of the middle horizontal fold, and a few faint brown stains scattered in the poster. Otherwise, the poster is in wonderful condition!
