An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Preston Sturges had written plays starting in 1929, but wanted to work in Hollywood, and assisted in writing dialogue in three 1930 movies, but he got his big break in 1931, with when "Strictly Dishonorable" was based on his play of the same name. Sturges went on to write many wonderful screenplays in the 1930s, and finally, in 1940, he was allowed to direct "The Great McGinty" (only because he agreed to work at a much lower price if they would let him direct!), and for the next few years, he was the hottest director in Hollywood!AND Barbara Stanwyck was a major female star from the 1920s to the 1980s. She was an immediate hit in sexy "bad girl" parts in the very early 1930s, and in 1931, she was described as "the girl with the Mona Lisa smile". Some of her movies include: Double Indemnity, The Lady Eve, Meet John Doe, Ball of Fire, Sorry, Wrong Number, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, and scores of others! In her later years, she took a starring role on TV's "The Big Valley", and "The Colbys" (as spin-off of "Dynasty").AND Robert Taylor was a handsome leading man from the 1930s to the 1960s, who barely seemed to age! Some of his movies include: Waterloo Bridge, Camille, Westward the Women, Three Comrades, and Quo Vadis. Important Added Info: Note that these two great stars and this great director did not work together on a movie, but they were together in the studio commissary eating when this candid picture was taken. If anyone knows more about exactly when it was taken, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this still measures 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Condition: good to very good. Note that the still is rippled in the right border (because of a snipe that was once glued to the back) and that causes it to not lay completely flat. This causes "distortion" in our image because it does not lay completely flat in our scanner, but this distortion is solely in our digital image, and NOT in the still itself. In addition to the rippling, the still also has some faint staining in that area, also caused by the snipe that was glued to the back, but it is mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light.
