eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8z005 BORROWED CLOTHES LC 1918 Mildred Harris NOT billed as Mrs. Charlie Chaplin, Lois Weber! Date Sold 8/17/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 9 3/4" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]) (Learn More) Borrowed Clothes, the 1918 Lois Weber silent romantic love triangle melodrama (about a salesgirl who is engaged to a man she doesn't love, but she loses her clothes in a bath house fire, and she is lent clothes by a man she just met, and when she returns home, her parents suspect the worst, and try to force her into a shotgun wedding, but the fiance backs out, but fortunately, the stranger takes his place!) starring Mildred Harris (billed as "Mrs. Charlie Chaplin [Mildred Harris]"), Lew Cody, Edward Peil Sr., Helene Rosson, and George Nichols. Note that this movie was filmed in the fall of 1918 and was released in November. Apparently, they had started preparing the movie paper for this film, and it had Mildred Harris top billed, but when Harris married Chaplin in October, before the movie was released, paper was created that billed her as "Mrs. Charlie Chaplin (formerly Mildred Harris)", but some items exist where she is solely billed as "Mildred Harris". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have been consigned a collection of early lobby cards that all were heavily trimmed (some with just the borders trimmed, but others trimmed to 8" x 10"). They are all from very rare titles, and certainly, they could be restored (or displayed as they are). One would obviously prefer finding an untrimmed example of this card, but one might wait a VERY long time to find that untrimmed example, but bear in mind this significant defect before bidding on this card, which has been trimmed and it now measures 9 3/4" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair. All the blank borders were mostly trimmed off and there is paper loss along the bottom. Since this card was printed prior to Harris' marriage to Chaplin, someone added "Now Mrs. Charlie Chaplin" to the bottom border (see the card). Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
