AWARD FOR CARELESS TALK AWARD FOR CARELESS TALK war poster OR search current auctions Auction History Result 2k075 AWARD FOR CARELESS TALK 20x26 WWII war poster 1944 Dohanos art, it results in Nazi medals! Date Sold 12/13/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 20" x 26" [51 x 66 cm]) (Learn More) Award for Careless Talk, the 1944 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Don't discuss troop movements - ship sailings - war equipment") encouraging citizens to safeguard sensitive war information, and featuring Stevan Dohanos art of a Nazi hand wearing a swastika ring and holding an Iron Cross medal. Obviously, the point was that a person carelessly discussing war information was in essence a collaborator with Nazi Germany just as much as a Nazi soldier was, and that "loose lips" could result in Germans winning the highest awards, which is certainly "heavy handed", but it REALLY gets the point across! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Steven Dohanos Important Added Info: Note that this is the first time we have auctioned this size of this poster, and this one has printing on the back (see below). Note that this poster (like most World War II posters) were widely distributed through the mail (to military bases and other locations). They were machine folded, and a very few of them have printing on the back of the area that was on the outside when it was fully folded, giving instructions on how the poster was to be used and displayed (see our image of the back of the poster). We don't know if this printing would be on all examples of this poster, or only some of them. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good to fine. The poster has very minor fold and border wear. Learn More about condition grades
