And a killer... ruthless and merciless. Burning a flaming trail of mystery, intrigue and romance... among the gay capitals of Europe"; "Based on the novel 'Ashenden' by W. Somerset Maugham"; "From the play by Campbell Dixon"; about an English spy in World War I who is stationed in Switzerland to try to capture a notorious German spy, and he is aided by a beautiful woman posing as his wife, and by a mysterious assassin, played by Peter Lorre) starring Madeleine Carroll, Peter Lorre, John Gielgud, Robert Young, Percy Marmont, Florence Kahn ("as Mrs. Max Beerbohm"), Charles Carson, and Lilli Palmer NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this half-sheet, and the last one was 27 years ago, when it sold for $1,500! Also note that while this poster could conceivably be rolled, it is very old, and it would not make sense to roll it, as rolling it would have a good chance of damaging it. Therefore we will send it in a very large flat package, unless the new owner insists on us rolling it and will accept responsibility for the chance of damage. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! The poster is not fragile, but we strongly advise against trying to roll it, because it would be such a shame to damage it when the image area has survived so long in pretty nice condition. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a small tear in the middle of the left blank border that has a piece of tape on the back and a tiny tear near the middle of the right border that was repaired with tape from the back, and two tiny tears in the right of the top border that have tape on the back. It has creases, smudges, and a few tiny stains scattered in parts of the borders. There are a few tiny pinholes around the edges. There are a few faint smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Other than the above, the poster is in nice condition! I can't imagine a collector anywhere who wouldn't be thrilled to have this wonderful and ultra rare poster on their wall just as it is!
