An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style Y Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60") (Learn More) Rebel Without a Cause, the classic 1955 Nicholas Ray romantic troubled teen family relationship melodrama ("The reception committee for the new kid on the block!"; "The overnight sensation of 'East of Eden' becomes the star of the year!"; "Warner Brothers put all the force of the screen into a challenging drama of today's juvenile violence!"; "Warner Bros'. challenging drama of today's dammit, juvenile violence!"; "...and they both come from 'good' families"; "Their families gave them everything -but a good example!"; "This is Jim Stark, teenager --from a 'good' family--"; "He was new on the block, the pretty girl belonged to the leader of the gang, and the leader of the gang called him 'chicken' to his face..."; "This is how a teen-war starts!"; "Jim Stark - a kid from a 'good' family - what makes him tick... Like a bomb?") starring James Dean ("The star sensation of 'East of Eden'!"), Natalie Wood (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Sal Mineo (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Jim Backus, Edward Platt, Dennis Hopper (in a bit part as one of the "goons"), Ann Doran, Corey Allen, William Hopper, Jack Grinnage, Frank Mazzola, and Ian Wolfe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. Also note that this is a paperback 40x60, and it can NOT be rolled. It needs to be sent in a very large flat package, which can be sent anywhere in the United States via UPS, but it may be too large to send to other countries via the Post Office. It may cost hundreds of dollars to send this poster to another country via a freight service, so please bear that in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had an uneven area of paper loss running down the right side of the poster running irregularly approximately 6" from the right edge. The "y" of "family" was missing (and also the "-" after it), as was a small part of Dean's elbow, and also the "E" of "CAUSE" at the end of the title (and the quote mark after it). Other than the above, all that was missing was the blank white border, and an uneven part of the blue and yellow backgrounds. The rest of the poster had been rolled, and there were many scattered creases and scuffs throughout. The poster was REALLY expertly backed, and the missing irregular right 6" was re-created, and light touch up was done to the rest of the poster (but covering over all of the faint smudges and scuffs would have required repainting large sections of the poster, and I agree with the decision to not do that). When you look at the poster from any reasonable viewing distance, it displays great. If you go right up to the poster and stare at it, you can clearly see signs of the scattered creases and scuffs throughout. The recreated area was done so nicely that most people would not realize it was recreated unless it was specifically pointed out to them (as a test, I showed this poster to several people at our work, and none noticed the replaced right area, even after looking closely at the poster). This rare and really cool poster does display pretty well, but please do not bid on it unless you have carefully read the above, carefully have studied our super-sized image, and can accept the restoration this great poster has had!
