Artist: Abel Faivre Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a very similar poster that had some slight differences from this one. That was not uncommon at this time, because posters like these would have been printed more than once, because they could continue to be used throughout the war. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had some tiny tears on parts of some folds. It had a 15" tear in the lower right, 1" above the bottom horizontal fold. It had many smudges and scuffs scattered throughout, in the solid white areas. Some seem like they could be printing defects, some seem like ink transfer, and some seem like scuffs (see our image). Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
