An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

L'Eclisse (released in the U.S. as "Eclipse"), the 1962 Michelangelo Antonioni French/Italian Africa/France romantic melodrama (about a woman who wants to start an affair with a successful stockbroker, but the romance fails because he is so materialistic; there is also a major subplot dealing with Vitti's character, who was a white woman born in Kenya, and she feels that she is no less Kenyan than the blacks born there, and at one point in the movie, she paints herself black!) starring Alain Delon, Monica Vitti, Francisco Rabal, Lilla Brignone, and Louis Seigner

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Argentinean poster! Also note that we previously auctioned a horizontal Argentinean poster from this movie, which mentioned the Cannes Film Festival award prize, which indicates that this poster is a "pre-awards" poster. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster's blank borders were trimmed off and it had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases and slight darkening on the folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
