Date Sold 8/29/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Paperbacked Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book Page (measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Casey at the Bat, the 1927 Monte Brice silent New York Major League Baseball sports comedy ("Story by Hector Turnbull"; very loosely based on the classic poem by Ernest Lawrence Thayer) starring Wallace Beery (in the title role as 'Home Run' Casey), Ford Sterling, Zasu Pitts, Sterling Holloway, and Spec O'Donnell. Note that this movie owes as much to the larger-than-life Babe Ruth as it does to the classic poem! In it, Casey is a mighty home run hitter, who is signed by the New York Giants, and he starts to live the high life, buying drinks for everyone and romancing showgirls. At the climax of the movie, he comes to bat, and just like the Casey of the poem, he strikes out, but it turns out that the ball was doctored, and the result of the game is overturned! Artist: Edmund Davenport Important Added Info: Note that this page was removed from the Paramount Pictures 15th Birthday Group campaign book and then it was paperbacked. It can be framed to create a very affordable first release display from this movie! Note that because this page (which was printed on a thicker paper) was paperbacked and CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we know it would definitely lessen its condition, so we will only send it in a very large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the page was removed from a campaign book that had three punch holes at the spine, so there were three holes in the left side of this page, and then it was paperbacked. Other than being removed from the book, it was in nice condition, and the printing on the back does not bleed through to the front. Learn More about condition grades
