An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Parisian Love, the 1925 Louis J. Gasnier silent France apache romantic love triangle crime melodrama (based on a story "by F. Oakley Crawford"; a wild story of French apache Clara Bow, who has an apache boyfriend, but she gets angry at a rich scientist who has befriended her boyfriend, and to get her revenge on him, she gets him to fall in love with her and marry her, and the she reveals who she is and that she didn't care about him at all) starring Clara Bow, Lou Tellegen, Alyce Mills, Donald Keith, Lillian Leighton, Jean De Briac, Hazel Keener, and Otto Matieson. Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had a 4" L-shaped tear at top center, with an irregular 5" tear in the upper left, extending into the background figures above the man's cap. It had pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges, and some creases, scuffs, and small stains scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking.
