Nobody's Children, the 1940 Charles Barton orphan handicapped children adoption family relationship melodrama (adapted from the popular radio program of the same name; "Who'll lift the stigma... 'Unwanted'...from these youthful hearts?"; "'If you grown-ups think you have problems ...wait 'til you hear what us kids are up against!'") starring Edith Fellows, Billy Lee, Lois Wilson, Walter White Jr. and Georgia Caine. Note that this movie was inspired by Walter White Jr.'s radio program, "Nobody's Children," which broadcast from orphanages and interviewed real orphans in an attempt to locate homes for them! The movie has a fictionalized plot (a real tearjerker!) about an orphaned brother and sister, and the sister, an older teen, is "crippled", so while many families want adopt the cute younger brother, none want his sister, and he refuses to leave the orphanage without her; she convinces him to go with a family without her, and then, when she gets too old for the orphanage and is about to be sent to a "state home for the disabled", a couple whose husband overcame a handicap adopts her, and that is only the beginning of the plot twists, with a wildly implausible ending!.
