Nugent and Elaine Sterne Carrington"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a gangster who starts a romance with a daughter of a police sergeant, who thinks he is honest, and he uses that to his advantage by taking her to a play, and then killing a policeman when he sneaks away, and since he quickly returns, his girlfriend becomes an airtight alibi, but then he kills another man and his luck runs out, and he is cornered in his own home at the climax) starring Chester Morris (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Harry Stubbs, Mae Busch, Eleanor Griffith, Regis Toomey, and Irma Harrison.
