An Original Vintage Theatrical Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 14 3/4" x 40" [37 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

The Air Circus, the 1928 Howard Hawks & Lewis Seiler (billed as "Lew Seiler") romantic love triangle airplane aviation pilot action adventure thriller ("Young America flies to conquer"; "Story by Graham Baker and Andrew Bennison"; about two flight school cadets who vie for the affections of a beautiful girl, who turns out to be a champion pilot!; there is a spectacular scene where Rollins rescues Carol and Lake from a disabled plane in mid-air) starring Sue Carol, Louise Dresser, David Rollins, Arthur Lake, and Heinie Conklin. Note that this was director Howard Hawks' first airplane movie; it was thought lost for many years, but a silent version was found in the 1970s (although it was originally a partial talkie, the talking sequences are still lost).

Artist: Tom Terry
Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a window card, a jumbo lobby card, and a Swedish poster (and no lobby cards at all) from this movie before receiving this Australian daybill!

Note that this poster was mounted on a heavy board and must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 17" x 42".

Condition: fair to good. The poster was mounted to a heavy board, likely soon after it was printed. It has many stains and smudges around the edges, with stains in part of the faces of both stars, and some other stains scattered throughout the image. It has what appears to be a printing defect, which resulted in a diagonal line running across the lower left of the image, where the coloring is off, and some smaller similar lines in the stars' hair and in the man's nose and cheek (see our image). Obviously, it can be restored, but bear this in mind (and look at our super-sized image) before bidding.
