An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A English Six-Sheet (called a 12sh in England) Movie Poster (6sh; measures 76 3/4" x 87 3/4" [195 x 223 cm]) (Learn More) Chad Hanna, the 1940 Henry King romantic love triangle circus melodrama ("Printed in the Saturday Evening Post under the title of 'Red Wheels Rolling'"; based on the novel by Walkter D. Edmonds; about a country bumpkin who joins the circus in the mid-1800s, and he tries to win the heart of a beautiful horse rider, but she rejects him, but he finds love with a country girl who has also joined the circus, and he manages to save the circus from bankruptcy as well!) starring Henry Fonda (in the title role as Chad Hanna), Dorothy Lamour, Linda Darnell, Guy Kibbee, Jane Darwell, John Carradine, Ted North, Roscoe Ates, and Ben Carter. Note that this movie was made the same year as "The Grapes of Wrath", in which Fonda and Jane Darwell memorably appeared together! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this English six-sheet (and we have never auctioned any poster larger than a one-sheet from the U.S. either)! Also note that this poster was almost certainly printed in the very late 1930s or in the early 1940s, at a time when England was undergoing a severe paper shortage (as was most of Europe) due to World War II. So they would take older unused posters, and print new posters on the backs of them! In this particular case, three of the sections were printed on the back of pieces of earlier English posters! Condition: fair. As noted above, three of the sections are printed on the back of other earlier English posters, due to the paper shortages in England at that time. The section that is not printed on the back of another poster is the top left one. The poster is fragile and there are separations, tiny tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of many folds. The poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look great, and will likely need little paint restoration within the image. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its very significant defects and are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
