Phantom of the Opera, the 1943 Arthur Lubin Universal musical horror thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Terror!"; based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, and a remake of the silent classic featuring Lon Chaney Sr.) starring Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster (as Christine), Claude Rains (in the title role as Erique Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera), Edgar Barrier (as Raoul), Leo Carrillo, Jane Farrar, J. Edward Bromberg, Fritz Feld, Hume Cronyn, and "a cast of thousands"!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this style C one-sheet, and that was 22 years ago, when it sold for $2,185, in "good to very good" condition!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a tiny bit trimmed from the right and bottom borders, with one-third of an inch from the top border, but in all three cases, only blank white paper was affected. It had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, scuffs, and separation on parts of the folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
