An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 9 1/4" x 13 1/2" [23 x 34 cm]; 40 pages) (Learn More)

A Farewell to Arms, the 1932 Frank Borzage World War I (WWI) military romantic melodrama ("Here is Ernest Hemingway's greatest Novel!"; "Unforgettable story of an undaunted love"; "A great book! A greater picture!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway; about an American ambulance driver and an English nurse falling in love in France during World War I) starring Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper, Adolphe Menjou, Jack La Rue, and Mary Philips. Note that in 1951, Warner Bros. updated the story to World War II, and did not pay for the rights, so the movie was called "A Force of Arms". In 1957, it was remade under the original title with Rock Hudson and Jennifer Jones.

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: fair, NO CUTS. As noted above, the pressbook was removed from a bound volume and we believe it is surely missing at least two pages, and possibly more. In addition, the pages are quite fragile around the edges. Please do not bid on it unless you can accept this.
