37 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

MGM's Silver Anniversary, the 1949 still set promoting the greatest MGM movies from 1924 (the year that the combination of Metro Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn merged with Louis B. Mayer) through 1949, which was the year this set was created. The movies represented in this set are The Big Parade (1924), The Merry Widow (1925), Flesh and the Devil (1926), Tell It To the Marines (1928), Broadway Melody (1929), Min and Bill (1930), Trader Horn (1931), Grand Hotel (1932), Tugboat Annie (1933), Dinner at Eight (1934), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), San Francisco (1936), The Good Earth (1937), Boys Town (1938), Boom Town (1940), The Philadelphia Story (1941), Mrs. Miniver (1942), Random Harvest (1943), National Velvet (1944), Meet Me in St. Louis (1945), The Green Years (1946), Easter Parade (1948), and 15 movies MGM was releasing in 1949: Malaya, Any Number Can Play, Neptune's Daughter, In the Good Old Summertime, Edward, My Son, The Red Danube, The Stratton Story, On the Town, That Forsyte Woman, Conspirator, Madame Bovary, The Great Sinner, Battleground, The Secret Garden, and That Midnight Kiss! Note that this still set was released at the same time as the 1949 short film "Some of the Best: Twenty-Five Years of Motion Picture Leadership", which was hosted by Lionel Barrymore and featured clips of these films. The list above is missing three years (1927, 1939, and 1947). The complete set originally contained 40 stills (we know that because ours were found with the original bag). A knowledgeable collector and research indicates that 1927 was Ben-Hur (even though it came out in 1925), 1939 was Gone with the Wind, and 1947 was The Yearling (even though it came out in late 1946). We have never seen stills from this set before (much less a nearly complete set as is offered here)! Each still has a cool identifying title on the bottom and a great scene from each of the above movies. They are not "re-releases", because the movies were not re-released that year, but they are all from 1949, and are really wonderful!

Important Added Info: Note that because these stills have great images from so many classic MGM movies, we have pictured ALL 37 OF THEM, rather than only 8, as we usually do.

Condition: fine. The stills are in really wonderful condition. They come with the original printed bag, which is quite tattered, but it served its purpose well, which was to protect these stills from any aging, and it definitely did, because only a few of them have the most minor border wear.
