An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Alraune (released in the U.S. in 1956 as "Unnatural"), the 1952 Arthur Maria Rabenalt German science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller ("Born like no one else in the world before... The fruit of evil"; "Born outside the laws of God and man!"; "...the fruit of evil"; based on the novel by Hanns Heinz Ewers; about a scientist wanting to find out if a person's personality is genetic or environmental; he artificially inseminates a prostitute with the semen of a hanged man [which, in German mythology, was used to grow the "mandrake root", and in some myths it is the blood that is the source, and sometimes the root was given to a woman wanting to become pregnant, and supposedly eating it could make her pregnant, but the resulting child would grow into a soulless person], to see if the resulting child is doomed to grow up evil in spite of good upbringing; he raises the girl himself telling her he is her father, and she does in some ways become evil, and worse yet, her "father" is drawn to her, and when she rejects him, he goes insane) starring Hildegard Knef (billed as "Hildegarde Neff"; in the title role as Alraune), Erich Von Stroheim, Karlheinz Bohm, Harry Meyen, and Rolf Henniger. Note that a movie adaptation of this German story was made five times between 1918 and 1929, and this version was the first remake in almost 30 years! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. There was a 2" vertical tear 2" to the right of the middle crossfold and some separation and creases on parts of some foldlines. There was tiny surface paper loss in the bottom of the "S" of "ELSE" in the tagline to the right of the image. There was an NSS number stamped on the back of the poster which slightly bleeds through in the bottom center of the credits area. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
