An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27 3/4" x 40" [70 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Should a Woman Tell?, the 1919 John Ince silent romantic love triangle family relationship melodrama ("The tense drama of a soul in doubt"; "Featuring Alice Lake and a distinguished cast"; "Story and Scenario by Finis Fox"; the age old story of a country girl who goes to the big city and is "taken advantage of" by a man there, and she returns home, and her loyal boyfriend proposes to her, but she has trouble telling him about "her past", and when she does, he takes the news very badly!) starring Alice Lake, Frank Currier, Jack Mulhall, Nellie Anderson, Lydia Knott, and John Gilbert. Note that John Gilbert was billed as "Jack Gilbert" in this movie (which is how he was billed in movies at this time). He had uncredited roles in 1915 and then had credited roles in 1916, but he still spent the next several years not achieving major stardom. One of his first major roles was in 1922 when he starred in an early version of "The Count of Monte Cristo". Of course, he would become a top star of the mid 1920s, and then he would co-star with a very young Greta Garbo, and the rest, as they say, is history! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 27 3/4" x 40" [70 x 102 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and it had tears, separation, and tiny paper loss on parts of many foldlines, with greater paper loss in the left of the top horizontal fold, falling in the top of the girl's dress. It also had much paper loss in the blank borders, slightly extending into the image background in areas and there were smudges and scuffs scattered in the background areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
