An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Big Shot, the 1942 Lewis Seiler crime film noir ("'The Big Shot' Returns! Up from the gutter to make Gangland shudder!"; "Humphrey Bogart as the last of the Racket Barons.... The Big Shot of 'em all! The saga of the rise and fall of a gang lord and his lady!"; about a criminal who is a "two time loser", and his crooked lawyer wants him to take part in a robbery, but he knows getting caught would mean life in prison, so he refuses, but he ends up framed for the crime anyway) starring Humphrey Bogart, Irene Manning, Richard Travis, Susan Peters, Stanley Ridges, and Joe Downing. Note that this was the last film in which Bogart played a gangster (a part he had played many times!). The following movie he made was "Casablanca", which of course made him a giant star and drastically changed the roles he was able to take (and he showed his great diversity as an actor)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that posters from this Bogart movie made during WWII are extremely rare. In all our years of auctioning, we have only auctioned the insert, half-sheet, and window card, but we have never before auctioned this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears and tiny areas of paper loss scattered down the vertical foldline, with a lesser amount of wear on the horizontal folds. It had pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges. There was paint on the back of much of the center of the poster, where it was used to advertise another movie, and it slightly bled through to the front. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that after the poster was backed, it was roughly handled, and there are now many small tears in the excess linen in the bottom and right borders (but not in the poster itself).
