Seiter pre-Code New York City Greenwich Village romantic comedy ("They slept in the same room and still were strangers!... But things like that can't last forever in gaudy Greenwich Village, where art is long, but love is brief and blind!"; "A Laughter Romance!"; "From the novel by John Wells"; a clever plot that has been since re-used many many times, where a poor working woman and man who are complete strangers end up sharing a Greenwich Village apartment to save money, and because one works days and one works nights, they never are in the apartment at the same time, and in fact, never meet, and have no idea what the other is like, but then they meet accidentally, not realizing they are roommates, and they fall in love, still not knowing that they are "living together") starring Ginger Rogers, Norman Foster, George Sidney, Robert Benchley, Laura Hope Crews, and Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this window card, and only one in the last 11 years! Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card had 7" trimmed from the top and 2 1/2" trimmed from the left. There were a few smudges and stains in the area that remained. A talented restorer recreated the missing areas during paperbacking the card, although you can see some signs when you look at the card closely. After the card was restored, it acquired several tears in the bottom border and someone put tape on the back of them and performed slight restoration to the front. If I owned this great card, I would surely have a talented restorer do better restoration to the bottom area, but that will be the choice of the new owner. Learn More about condition grades
