An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25" x 38 3/4" [64 x 98 cm]) (Learn More) The Galloping Ace, the 1924 Robert N. Bradbury silent romantic cowboy western ("Universal attraction"; from the story by Jacques Jaccard) starring Jack Hoxie, Margaret Morris, Robert McKim, Frank Rice, Julia Brown, Dorothea Wolbert, and Fred Humes. Note that we have auctioned a one-sheet that has Robert Bradbury credited as the director and we have auctioned a title card that has Jay Marchant credited as the director! We would imagine this means that one of these two men started the movie and the other finished it, but we don't know in which direction this was. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 25" x 38 3/4" [64 x 98 cm], but it does not appear to be trimmed. If it had been trimmed, then it would have extremely large blank borders, which is not impossible, but does not seem likely. If anyone has ever seen another example of this poster (we have not), please e-mail us with the measurements, so we can know if this one was neatly trimmed of not. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster measures 25" x 38 3/4", but it does not appear to be trimmed (see above). It had two evenly spaced vertical foldlines instead of the regular one middle one, and it had some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It had some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking (assuming it was not trimmed). At some point after it was backed, it acquired damage to the letters of the title and Hoxie's credit, and there is surface paper loss scattered in those (see our image). Any talented restorer could touch up those areas without re-backing the poster. Learn More about condition grades
