An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Murder in Mississippi, the 1965 Joseph P. Mawra Civil Rights Movement interracial romantic murder thriller ("Herb Altman dares to present a new boldness in motion pictures!"; about three Civil Rights workers, one female, who go to Mississippi to register black African American voters, and two are murdered, and the remaining one, a pretty girl, is kidnapped by rednecks) starring Sheila Britt (billed as "Sheila Britton"), Sam Stewart, Derek Crane, Lew Stone, Martin St. John, and John Steel. Note that director Joseph P. Mawra and screenwriter Herb Altman started out trying to make an important movie about the then current Civil Rights Movement, but he couldn't resist (or he was pressured by investors!) to add a sleazy sex subplot that made part of the movie a sexploitation movie, and greatly reduced its impact as a Civil Rights movie. In addition, the cinematography was terrible, because there was not enough lighting in many scenes, and in some cases, the film is so dark that you can barely make out what is happening! Still, this is one of the first movies to attempt to deal with race relations in an honest way, and it is worthy of being seen and remembered
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet and a different example of this still from this movie, and NO other movie paper, until we received this second still!

Condition: very good.
