Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Canadian One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 40") (Learn More) The Face Behind the Mask, the 1941 Robert Florey romantic crime thriller ("What weird madness turned an ordinary man into a monstrous cold-blooded killer?"; "Is this the face that caused a thousand crimes?"; "Weird drama!"; "Why did a simple, ordinary man... Become the underworld's phantom terror?"; "What terror lurks behind this mask? What dark deeds are being hatched? What strange vengeance is brewing?"; about a European immigrant who is disfigured in a fire, and turns to crime, because everybody shuns him) starring Peter Lorre, Evelyn Keyes, Don Beddoe, George E. Stone, and John Tyrrell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we do not know exactly what this poster is, but it seems likely that it is a Canadian one-sheet, because we have seen many other similar "silkscreen"-like one-sheets that originated in Canada, and were apparently only used in that country. It would seem extremely likely that it dates from 1941. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also, this poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: very good to fine. The poster had minor touchup on the foldlines. The lettering of "A Columbia Picture" at the bottom has had much of the reds painted over. Otherwise, it appears the poster has had very little restoration.. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
