An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Thirteen Hours by Air, the 1936 Mitchell Leisen airplane aviation murder mystery crime melodrama (about an airline pilot on a San Francisco to New York City flight, who makes a bet that he can take a beautiful woman to dinner after they land, but it turns out she is involved in murder and jewel robbery, so things get really complicated!) starring Fred MacMurray, Joan Bennett, Zasu Pitts, John Howard, Bennie Bartlett, Grace Bradley, Alan Baxter, Brian Donlevy, Ruth Donnelly, Fred Keating, and Adrienne Marden. Note that the title of the movie refers to the time of the transcontinental flight, which, in 1936, took 13 hours, and of course, in today's world is just a few hours! Also note that a major plot point in the movie concerned the air hostesses, who had to sign an agreement not to marry as a condition of accepting the job, and two of the actresses in the movie did not want to sign the agreement! We assume that no company in today's world can enforce such a clause, but the world was a very different place in 1936! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is the first time we have auctioned this great poster! Condition: fair. The poster is in much lesser condition. There are several defects scattered along the edges and foldlines/crossfolds and there are several significant areas of foldline and/or crossfold separation. MANY of the defects have been repaired with tape from the back that may bleed through to the front, especially along parts of the vertical foldline. There is paper loss at center right that was repaired with tape and paper from the back, with some paint that does not match the background. There is small paper loss near MacMurray's face. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
