An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More)

Blind Husbands, the 1919 Erich von Stroheim silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("Stroheim's Wonder-Play"; "Produced by Stroheim himself"; about a neglected wife and her husband on vacation, and a young officer decides to have her, whatever it takes) starring Sam De Grasse, Francelia Billington, Erich von Stroheim, Gibson Gowland, and Fay Holderness. Note that this was von Stroheim's first movie as both writer and director (and he starred in it as well), and unlike several of his later movies, it had a linear story line, and ran 90 minutes. As he became more successful, his movies became much longer and much more complicated! Also note that first release movie paper from this early Erich von Stroheim movie is incredibly rare!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that any movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We only auctioned six stills since 1995, when we auctioned a one-sheet, and we auctioned a single lobby card in 1994, and other than that, we have never auctioned anything from this most classic movie until we received this glass slide! Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see!

Condition: fair. There is deterioration in the woman's hair and in the background to the right of the top credit (just slightly touching the last "S" of "Stroheim's" (see our image). There is also staining scattered throughout the slide. Obviously, restoration can be performed, but bear this in mind before placing a bid.
