An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 5 1/2" x 9" [14 x 23 cm]; 166 pages) (Learn More) Paramount 1927, the 1927 combination campaign book and date book ("15th Birthday Group"). Note that studios made elaborate books during the 1920s and 1930s to promote their upcoming releases, and those are called campaign books. They also made small (usually around 4" x 6") "date books", which had daily calendars for theaters to keep track of what they were booking for the upcoming year, and to make them a little more "special", the studios would often include just a few pages that were modified versions of their elaborate campaign book. But this is something entirely different, something we have never seen before! Paramount was the number one studio in the world at this time, and they released an extremely elaborate campaign book this year, and they apparently decided to go all out and also make a hardcover date book that included not just a few, but lots and lots of pages that were completely different versions of pages in their hardcover campaign book, but also full color, and including many one and two page spreads. So this hardcover book gives a collector images we have never seen before from Paramount to promote their biggest films of this year, which included Metropolis, Wings, Beau Geste, Casey at the Bat, and so many others, and the images used are, as we said, completely different from the larger campaign book version! So this is an incredible rarity, and we first discovered it in March of 2024, when we were consigned one example! Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this hardcover campaign/date book (it is the one mentioned in our description above). Note: We have 16 images of this campaign book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 16 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 6. Condition: very good.
