An Original Vintage Unfolded Canadian Stage Play Poster (measures 23 1/4" x 36 1/4" [59 x 92 cm]) (Learn More) The Threepenny Opera, the circa 1960s Canadian stage play (based on the 'play with music' by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Kurt Weill) held at the Manitoba Theatre Centre from February 9th to the 26th. Note that this poster features wild art by MacDonald Michaleski! Bertolt Brecht was a German theatre practitioner, playwright, and poet from the 1920s to 1956. He was the main proponent of the genre named epic theater. During the Nazi period and World War II he lived in exile, first in Scandinavia and then in the United States. Returning to East Berlin after the war, he established the theatre company Berliner Ensemble with his wife and long-time collaborator, actress Helene Weigel.
